Behind the Scenes: Scene Facts: Rescue
- Billy Zane and David Warner also appeared together in an episode of the television show "Twin Peaks." In this episode, another cast member utters the line "I'd rather be his whore than your wife." (There is no reason to think Cameron knew this when he used the same line in this script.) David Warner has also appeared in another Titanic movie, SOS Titanic.
- Rose runs into Andrews whom gives her directions on how to reach Jack. The directions he gives her would not have got her to Jack had she been on the RMS Titanic.
- There were 26 copies of Rose's dress because of the conditions imposed on the material by filming in the water. Eventually in some scenes the bottom of the dress had to be cut off, due to the fact that it kept tangling in Winslet's legs.
- The axe used on the wardrobe was real; the axe used on the handcuffs was rubber.
- Winslet admitted that her reaction to the cold water was real. She had asked Cameron not to heat the water for these shots.
- Jack is supposedly held prisoner in the Master-at-Arms' office, which is
depicted as having a porthole. On the Titanic, this room was an interior room and hence would have no portholes.
- The sea water would be at or below freezing point, yet characters rarely display
discomfort or disablement from being immersed.
- That porthole is shown to be several feet below water, yet a later shot from inside
the room shows the surface of the water visible inches above the porthole.
- Rose breaks the glass to get to the axe and most of the glass is knocked out. The
next shot of the ax has glass shards still surrounding it.
