1912 - 2nd class survivor Miss Hilda Mary Slayter married Harry Reginald Dunbar Lacon of Ottley, the son of a British MP and baron, Sir Edmund Henry Knowles Lacon of Ottley in Denman Island off the coast of British Columbia, Canada. She travelled to England to buy a trousseau for wedding, but lost it in the sinking.

1870 - 2nd class survivor Mrs Elizabeth Anne Mellinger was born to the Maidment family in Walthamstowe, London, England, UK.

1886 - Fireman / Stoker and survivor Mr George Terrill Thresher was born in Southampton, Hampshire, England, UK.

1891 - Musician and 2nd class passenger Mr Roger Marie Bricoux was born in France.

1997 - 51st Tony Awards were presented. Titanic the Musical won for Musical, Book—Musical, Score—Musical, Orchestration (Jonathan Tunick), and Scenic Designer (Stewart Laing).
