COPAL'S INTRODUCTION COLUMN.

AN INSPECTION WITH SOLUTIONS

Over a year has passed since James Cameron's Titanic was released to audiences world-wide. During that time there have been websites large and small that have come and gone which were dedicated to this film. In visiting these sites as well as maintaining my own Titanic website, I've learned many things that I want to pass on to the new and veteran Titanic webmasters and graphic designers.

This column's purpose is to help webmasters improve their graphics and webpage creation in simple ways that will enhance their sites. The cleaner and more professional your site looks, the more people will enjoy their visit and the more gratification you will get out of your project.

I have never claimed to know everything there is to know about making graphics or websites. We should all continue to learn and improve our skills throughout the future of these sites. You are all welcome to disagree and give me your comments about this column and all subsequent articles, but all I ask is that no one take anything I've written here personally. If I mention something here, it means I have seen it often and I think that there is a significant amount of people who would benefit from learning from it.

ABOUT THE NEWSLETTER

Hi, I want to introduce myself, I am Ane, and I am in charge of this newsletter!

"I love Titanic, just simply love it! And I am a big fan of Kate! When I am not working on the newsletter, I am usually updating my Kate page - http://kwparadise.cjb.net - or making graphics! When I am off the computer I like to be with my friends, watch movies, listen to music, dance, read, write, sleep and so much more!"

Each newsletter we will introduce one or two staff members, so that you can get to know us all a little better!

"Stump Ane" is something that is coming next month! The meaning is to ask a question I can't answer .... So email me your questions, and lets see if I can answer them :-) Remember the questions have to be about Titanic (ship, movie, actors and actresses in the movie, etc.) or B2T! So come on, "stump" me!

Anything is missing? I need your ideas, just email them to me at harald.johnsen@ah.telia.no ! Together we can make this newsletter perfect!

Have you read a book about Titanic you want to recommend? Write what it is about and what you thought of it and send it to me!

The newsletter will come out once a month! And it will contain news about B2T and Copal's column, monthly stuff, games + some really nifty ideas!

MONTHLY STUFF

Every month we are planning to have a quote, picture, fact, artwork and a book of the month!

Quote:
"You have a gift, Jack. You do. You see people."

Was chosen by Copal because:
From the first time Jack glimpsed Rose, he could see her potential, and he wanted to be the one to show it to her. But Rose thought she was an untouchable first class girl, someone a stranger could never diagnose or accurately judge. When she realized he saw people beyond their airs and defenses, she also understood that he saw her as more than a poised porcelain doll. He saw her.

Picture:
Take a look at this rare picture! http://www.back-to-titanic.com/waves/pic-month/aug_spin.jpg

Fact:
On her maiden voyage, Titanic carried a total of 2, 223 people (706 survived). While 60 percent of the 329 first class passengers were saved, only 25 percent of the 710 third class passengers survived. The crew fared worst of all 685 of the 899 crew members perished in the disaster.

It will be well worth it!

Book of the month:
"The Discovery of Titanic" by Robert D. Ballard

"A cold April night in 1912 Titanic stroked an iceberg and sank in the North - Atlantic. In the following days the world was shaken by the terrible news. 73 years later, 1. September 1985, the latest news was: "Titanic found." The same morning had Robert Ballard leading a French/American expedition localized and photographed the legendary ship. Ballard returned the summer 1986 to where he had found Titanic. He dived down 4000 meter to the ghost ship to explore it. After landing on the ship deck, he sent his "swimming eye," the robot Jason Junior, in to the wreck. With 11 dives, Ballard and his crew explored the whole ship and wreckparts."

This is a book to read if you are interested in the discovery of Titanic. You will find lots of info about dr. Robert Ballard and when he found Titanic. It is also very many beautiful and good pics from the wreck. You will also find a little about what happened that sad night in April, but as I said it is most about the wreck!
